RE: Herrington lake fnf report is coming

Would like to thank BigGw for my first ever fishing trip on Herrington. Herrington(what I saw today) looks to have some great FnF areas.
We launched out of Chimney Rock. The water looked to be at the end of turnover and was on the clean up stage. Air temp was mild about 45 degress..Well that changed to about 35 by days end with some wind that was whitecapping "Mile Stretch".

I got a pulldown on the second cast and landed one about 5................................................. ...........................inches. Brought a gill to hand...Git-r-DOne.
THe Bluegill pulldown bite was on. We got bites all day.

Around 3 we finally found some Ky's on a wall..Get this, we were sitting in 140ft of water.....Git-R-Done.

    We ended up with 6 Ky's(Billy 5, GW 1) and 5 gills(Billy 4, GW 1)
One of those Ky's would have probably kept.

We have some fish come unbuttoned. The water temp was in the low 50's.
All fish were on caught on hand ties. We fished any where from 9-12ft deep. At the end there were being caught in about 9...You needed to hit the bank and try and drop the fly off the drop.

It was a real blast for me. Like I said I had never been to Herrington before to Bass fish. Some of the depths are unreal. Loved the way it bends and winds. I only made it from the dam to Herrington Marina area. Can't wait to see what else it has to offer.

    Thanks again GW,,,

    Billy

I've been on Herrington 3 times I think...one of those was at night. The depth got my goat too. I guess you don't have to worry about the bobber laying over because the fly's on the bottom, eh? lol

Glad you boys got on some fish...

Did yall note the the depth of the bait fish(schools of shad) during your fishing trip at Herrington Lake? Looking at your fishfinder not only shows the depth of the water but can also show the depth of the shad... Just looking in
