    New Baits for 2007

Not that I need any more baits, but after looking at the new baits for 2007 a few stood out as possible tackle box stuffers. The XPS Free Style Jig with the two "assist hooks"...not sure about the assist hooks, but could give you more hooking power. The Strike King Shad 5 inch...maybe an answer to the Gizz-4. The Rebel Jumper Minnow...maybe good for hybrids and stripers. The Berkly Frenzy Flicker shad...maybe good for whites and hybrids. Over all it doesn't look like a break through year for new baits unless you go to the Japan companies.

Don't run for Japan baits just yet. There are still a few dimonds in the rough. You missed one made here in the good old USA. The new "SideArm" Secret Weapon Lures. Unlike anything else on the market.

    RE: New Baits for 2007

I started thinking about your post on new baits and i realized that regardless of the new bait craze such as chatterbaits from last year i still rely on my old favorites at the end of the day. I always try the new stuff (within reason) but rarely accept them as tournament tools.
I think my exceptions are the Zoom Horny Toad, Spro Frog and Chatterbait for specific applications.
I really anticipate the new reel designs and rod technology each year as well. Waiting for a heated rod and or reel to be invented....:-)

A heated rod handle would be great if it could be done without adding much weight. I know my motorcycle heated vest and gloves works great. Why can't someone come out with heated coveralls and gloves for fishing? I know Elnut would buy a pair, but then, that guy may be too hot in them.

I hear the new Berkley shaky worms are good. (These may have been out briefly in 06). These new ones have a floating tail. I haven't tried mine yet except for in the tub but it looked dangerous.

    RE: New Baits for 2007

I just got my new 2007 Fly Fishing Catalog from Cabala's and they sent me their Fall 2006 master fishing catalog also. There are so many baits in these two catalogs that it makes my head dizzy. I am an old school bass fisherman and a new school crappie fisherman, if there is such a thing! LOL Meaning I have hundreds of old bass plugs and very few new bass plugs but I have hundreds of new crappie baits and supplies.

There there is then new BPS Catalog that I got the other day. Well BPS seems to send me a new type of catalog every Week or many it's just every month. But I am not stretching the truth very much when I say I get one every month. I think everyone would confirm that if they subscribe or have ever bought anything from BPS. Not complaining just wondering how they can afford to send out so many catalogs. Lots of trees have to die to get all these catalogs made.

Then I can always check out both these companies ONLINE Catalogs or visit lots of other fishing, hunting and camping stores online.

Thanks for the tip on the new hot plugs. I still have not made it though all the fishing reels in the front part of all these catalogs.

    Regards,
