Cumberland hybrids

Any votes for stocking hybrids on cumberland? They will do much better in the summer with the warm temps, there will likely never be a fish kill with warm temps. There could be many more fish although they will be smaller than the pure striper and more people could catch them. the big gizzard shad issue is not an issue now with the alewives so there is really not a source for big forage for the stripers. The white bass are gone and it would fill a gone fish. Tennesse provides stocking of the pure striper in the river below the dam for trophy stripers that grow bigger than the ones in the lake from our stocked trout,that ever did in the lake. You old board salts know where I am going.

O.K. I'll jump in " How many 40#plus Stripers did Lance Sasser catch this year? I'm way behind on my stats, but if that was just one guide what did the rest of them do.
Cumberland is uniqe and the only lake we have that can grow monster fish.

white bass are not "gone" on C-land yet. DNR has been trying to re establish them on the upper end of the lake.

why not on the hybrids, just add them along with the sturgeon! :-)

Cumberland is unique around here in its ability to grow stripers.

Hybrids can be found almost anywhere.

Maybe. But only if they stocked Hybrids in addition to the stripers and they kept the same limits for Hybrids as they have for stripers. I would like to see the fisheries input on that too. I agree with the other guys, Cumberland is unique. Stripers just have not done well in other lakes. I see no reason to interfer with the stripers at Cumberland. They are doing well there. The only benifit to Hybrids, in addition to the stripers, is that they would take some of the pressure off the stripers.

I would like to see hybrids in Cumberland.This is a fish that the average fisherman on vacation can catch.I don't see that it would affect the stripers at all.I catch a lot of hybrids in the Ohio river and I don't think many fishermen would turn up their noses at a 10 pound hybrid.

I'd vote "YES" to hybrids on C-land.

a. More jumps for really no reason at all, they just do that alot.
b. Me thinks the limit should be double that of the Stripers, as some folks would then focus on the "H" guys, and catching 2 of them feeds like one good Striper does.
c. I don't think the Stripers would mind much, as in the summer months when they are real deep, the hybrids would be a little easier to catch. And in fall, when the Stripers come up, just think of the combined jumps that you'd see.
d. In spring, fishing top water at night, you can add "H" guys to the Stripers and Walleyes chasing your Redfin. One more spcies, one more chance, as each reacts slightly differently to the same weather conditions.
e. And Cumberland would add a new definition to its "uniqueness", as one of the few bodies of water that has the smnallie, striper, KY, hybrid, and walleye, as well as cats, and carp, and drum, etc. The uniques would be the added variety.

So, now lets talk BOWFINS............
