Are you looking for a spinning or baitcasting reel?
if youre looking for a baitcaster there are three, imo. theAbu Garcia revo, Shimano curado and the quantum pt tour edt. i own one of each and i just got the revo a month ago and i like it just as well as the other two and it cost me about 160 i think the curado and the quantum were both over 250. as far as spinning reels go i dont use them very often, ussually only at the ohio, but i like the mitchell adovocet 2000. i think it is pretty good in my opinion.BASSKING
I'm hooked on the Quantum PT Tour Edition baitcasters and the Pflueger Trion GX-7 spinning reels. Both have held up well and are very, VERY smooth.
P.S. - I have six of the PT Tour Edition baitcaster and three of the Pflueger Trions if that tells you anything!!! Normally I buy one to try it out, then buy a few more....I think I went overboard, but heck I love'em!!!

I love Shimanos but everyone makes quality reels now. The more you spend the better the reel so spend the most you can afford and take care of it and it will last you a lifetime. Good Luck.

If your looking for a nice spinning reel the shimano stradic is a really nice real, but if your on a budget the shimano symetre is about half the price and i beleive it has the same guts just not as durable outside. With a baitcaster the bass pro extreme is a decent reel and on sale now for under 50 bucks.Hope this helps.
I picked up a pfluger president series at BPS and liked it very well, I mostly use Quantums including the PT, but have had a lot of trouble with them over the last 2 years. Was told at BPS that they were the most retuned of all the baitcasters.
Also throw Quantum spinnig reels no problem with them.
My next reel will either be a Pfluger or a shimano.

I agree. I love shimano curados, stradics, but the best low price reel has to be the BPS Extreme.

I own several of the older style Curado's and love them. Now that Shimano has changed ther design of those reels and raised the price Ive purchased a Shimano Citica and so far it seems to be comparable to the Curado.
Thanks for all of your guys input , I should have said that Im looking for a baitcaster..lol... Will keep all of those in mind.
I am still using Ambassador baitcasters I bought in 1973 (4500 & 5500). Only problem in all that time was replacing springs once. Have tried other makes over the years and end up selling them after 4 or 5 years of use.
Shimano Chronarch 100MG, if you can find one.
