I have been hearing good things about the bluegill and redear fishing at Elmer Davis lake. I am planning a trip there in late april-may. I have never been there and I was hoping for some info and help on fishing the lake. i am also wondering if the redear and bluegill there are as nice as i am hearing. any help is greatly appreciated. I am gonna take my 14 ft. aluminum boat and was wondering if it is idle speed also.
The bluegill fishing can be good at that time. Not sure about the boat regs, but there's a 12-15" slot for bass and a 12" minimum for catfish. Speaking of which, I'd never head to ED without taking a catfish pole. It's full of 'em.I have been hearing good things about the bluegill and redear fishing at Elmer Davis lake. I am pretty sure there is a horsepower restriction ( ?? 9.9 ??) on this small lake. Check it out.
I just checked, and it's 10hp. Glad you posted that. I was going to explore that lake myself. So, if I show up with my lil' ol' 15hp runabout, and stay at no-wake speed the whole time, am I going to get hassled?
if the reg is 10 hp then no motor over that can be used. At one time you could idle any size motor on Beaver Lake but that was stopped cos some people couldnt just idle. So I was told no motor over the posted reg could be used at all, that was by a KFW.
What if you have a motor that's over the limit, but don't even start it up? I've looked at some aerial photography of the lake (mapquest), and it looks to me like a small enough lake that I could get around just fine with just a trolling motor. Do I have to take the **** thing off my boat? That's a pain.
I know you could do that several years ago, but do'nt even fire the big motor when loading back up. My Dad had a 9.9 cover on his 15HP.What if you have a motor that's over the limit, but don't even start it up? You don't have to take an oversized motor off your boat -- you just can't run it legally. Trolling motor use only with an oversized motor on the back is legal.

When did it change, I use to fish it with my boat with 150hp and idle around. You couldn't or wasn't suppose to power load with big motor though. They use to have a bunch of tournaments up there and everybody there was in bass boats. That lake is not what it used to be but you can still catch the gills and shellcrackers. Thay are not the size of days gone by unfortunately. Good luck and tell us how you did if you go. That's one little lake I can actually get my wife to go with me to because she loves to fish for panfish.
Havefished this lake many times, As with most lakes it can be great at times. Never pan fished , but do a lot of bass fishing on the lake. Have seen 1 8 lb. and many 4-5 pounders come out of the lake.
It is 9.9 with as many homes as there are on the lake you will get reported if you run a bigger motor. You can go as fast as you like with a 9.9.Say hello to Granny when you pay your launch fees.
