I Would Say Not Good Are You Talking About Cumb Falls???

I had planned on going up in late February to fish some near the Falls on the Big South Fork. How has the drop in the lake level on C-land affected the ramps on the upper headwaters?

What I know is this....
If your talking about C-Land Falls, there is no boat ramp there. You can drag a canoe or kayak from the parking lot down to the beach about a 1/2 mile away thats about 200 yards downstream from the falls and put in there. Now, if you have never been in whitewater before, I would leave this to the fishes. Usually at normal lake pool, paddling from the Cumberland Falls St. Park downstream to the boat ramp at Laurel River is nothing but lake water, a couple of minor rapids here and there. But with the corp dropping the water the way they are, several Class III+ rapids become exposed. These are Pinball, Screamin' Right Hand Turn, Stair Steps, and Last Drop. These rapids are recomemned for avanced whitewater canoers/kayakers only. Therefore, I wouldnt recomened doing this run unless you were with a group or you know what your doing. I've done this run several times with those rapids exposed, and they can be scary! Be careful!
No if your talking about the Big South Fork, there is no major change there. Normal Lake Pool usually starts just down stream of Devil's Jump at Blue Heron, and now the Lake Pool will start several miles downstream at Yamacraw. However, there is not many rapids to be exposed in that run, so that may be your better bet.
Hope this helps!
I was speaking of the Blue Heron area in the Big South Fork Wild River . I know there were a couple of US Forest Service ramps up there some time ago when I drove up to check out the area.
