    JamesTown Ramp

Watch out where you park at the Jamestown ramp. They are writing fines....and putting boots on tires of other vehicles parked there.(whatever that means.)

They will tow. If my buddy hadn't made it back before 3:30pm est he would have been towed. Can you imagine showing up at the ramp and no vehicle?

I hope he gets it worked out.

    So becareful and ask where...

Are you sure you are talkin about Jamestown Dock. I put in there yesterday morning at 7 am and returned at 4:30 pm. I never heard of anything like that and talked to a bunch of other fisherman. I think he is talking about down at the dam at Halcombs landing. If they are working all vehicles have to be out of the lot by 2 PM big sign that says that. It also states that if a vehicle is there past that time it will be towed. They are working there to get the dam fixed and get the lake back to normal. So I think we need to cooperate with them and get the vehicles out of there on time.

I didnt mean to ruffle your feathers but like i said i was at Jamestown ramp yesterday and no one said anything about a certain time to be back or gettin towed off to include the security guard. However he did say if ya didnt put the courtesy slip on the dash to showed that ya payed to launch they was goin to put a tire lock on your vehicle to collect the ramp fee.

I was there, and many of the boats had parked on the left side of the ramp, above the cones so I pulled in there also.... when we got back the was a warning issued and 50 fine on it. There were no slips to pay and no one in the booth, I would be glad to pay the 5 if there was somewhere to pay and proof of paying. When we came in after fishing there was a guy working on the dock taking a sign down, all he would have had to say was not to park there and you need to pay your five but no, all he did was walk out and go in the little store or whatever it was.

Guess there trying to as much money as possible out of each fisherman since there are not as many boats going out....

Sounds like they may not be wantin a bunch of us fishermen using their ramp. I know they dont like ya fishing near their dock. We just get in the way of all those rich folk that have big houseboats down there and they dont want us.

    DJH,

Sorry for the Smartarse comment. I posted before I thunk.

It seems like all the buzz I hear in the baitshop is that the concern over parking in the upcoming busy months will have some folks at odds end. Hopefully today my buddy got that warning/fine taken care of. We hope noone else has that problem, if so we'll take it ....well to someone.

Hello to the group. I would like to answer some of the statements made about towing and booting on our ramp at Jamestown. but first I would like to say fisherman are more then welcome at JRM. and the staff will work with you in anyway we can to make your visit an enjoyable one. We have the lower part of the ramp coned off and no parking signs up as we are working to get ready for the corp to extend two of our lanes so that we will have 3 useable lanes this season. during the week please do not park below the cones as this is for workers and heavy equipment. The launch ramp one-way road is now closed for about 2 to 3 weeks as we are clearing underbrush from along the road way for more parking. We will have to restrict this parking to cars and trucks only "NO Trailer" . This is so that we can provide more parking for those who come to JRM. We are also clearing underbrush from the sides of our gravel trailer parking lot. this way all trailers can be parked "Head In" instead of longways. This alone will add about 55 more spaces for trailers. We are looking into clearing in other areas for more parking also.
Our ramp has signs stating where the 5 min loading and unloading zones are . where handicaped parking is and where no parking is allowed. We have yellow strips and no parking painted on the pavement in these areas. We also have signs stating where tow zones and the fines zones are. This is to keep the ramp safe and traffic flowing without cars, trucks, and trailers blocking your way. I am the one who put the warning tickets on the five trucks parked in the loading zone with their trailers attached protruding out into the ramp area last week. this was a Warnings as I knew these fisherman were not regulars at JRM. I stated that they would be towed if not moved within 4 hours. I also stated that the fine for parking in a loading zone and having you trailer on the ramp was a $50.00 min. As stated this was a Warning they were NOT find nor were they towed, BUT They clearly disregarded the signs and were so warned. Our ramp is well marked with signs and we are working to improve in this area.
We have a honor box located on the wooden walkway for your launch fee's when the officer is not at the ramp, lthis is a large silver box with large blue letters stating "HONOR BOX" on the front.
During the daytime hours there are two Commissioned Peace Officers on Duty at JRM Should you have any questions please call on marine channel # 14 . Jamestown Marina is patroled 24/7 by Law Enforcement Officers for your safety and protection. We are here to help you enjoy your visit to the lake.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions about your visit to Jamestown Resort Marina.

    Thanks Tony,

We will try and relay this info to everyone. But giving someone 4 hours isn't really that fair if they were already on the water and you happened by just as they launched and were gone. They may have chosen to fish all day and not return until dark...
However I will pull up this thread and post it in the baitshop so everyone will know what they must do to comply.

Once again thanks for the post.

    Re: JamesTown Ramp

If you will check state law you will find that there is no fishing inside marina harbors in Ky. This is for your safety and safety of others. It also keeps fish hooks out of the electrical and gas cables running under the water. the guys working on the cables hate it when they grab a hook while checking cables.
