World record bass

Just found this and thought some on here might want to read it. It is a story about the 25 pounder caught and released last year. It is very interesting.

That article makes for an interesting disscussion. In there, an oddsmaker put out odds for where the next record will come out of? Where do you all think the next state record fish will come from, and what odds are you willing to put on it?
Heres some of mine:
Largemouth--KY Lake (Even), Barren River Lake (3-1, I have seen a bass in that lake that had to be at least 10 pds.),
Bluegill-- Any given strip mine lake (1-5, There in there, just how many mosquitos do you want to put up with?), Dale Hollow (2-1, there are sooooo many huge bluegil in that lake, there has to be a lunker)
Striper-- Cumberland River (1-10, shes in there, she was just caught, one pound shy), Lake Cumberland (1-2, shes probally in there too, and the low lake may make her more vunerable), Ohio River (10-1, there might be one lurking, but I've never heard of an Ohio stripe bigger than 20).

What are you alls thoughts....then again, I'm putting down 5-1 odds that a state record rainbow will never be caught, 2-1 that a record walleye will never be caught, and 1-10000000 odds that I'll never catch one of these fish :-D

It would not suprise me too see the next state record largemouth come from one of the states smaller lakes. guist creek possible, maybe malone, and i think rough has one swimming around in their as well.i also beleive KY lake has a greater possibility than the ones i listed above but ya never know.
No doubt our next record striper will come from cumberland( river or lake).
smallmouth i am going to have to say dale hollow(tennesee side) and possible at laurel lake.
bluegill,who knows!LOL there are big ones in a lot of lakes in kentucky. ive caught huge ones at rough and small lakes like willisburg and even mcneely lake in jefferson county.ya never know what is lurking beneith the surface.
BTW, I have horrible odds at catching one of theese record fish as well but you never know when its going to be your lucky day!

I think that the record striper will come out this year this year out of The BIg C.

I worked in Shlebyville a couple of years ago and one of my employees told me that his brother in law that worked for the fishery division in Frankfort had shocked up a Largemouth in Guist Creek that was ounces shy of the current state record for what it is worth. I never caught any big ones when I fished it but heard stories of some really good ones in the lake. With more and more land owners not letting people fish, I put the odds at even money that the next state record largemouth comes from a private pond or small private lake.

I agree with you bassking. I think that the next state record largemouth will come out of a smaller lake. Woodscreek in Laurel County holds the record right now and would not be suprised if does'nt come out of there again soon...........real soon. It's amazing at the number of 9 and 10lb fish I have seen come out of there the last couple of years.

I was in a bit of a rush earlier so I wasnt able to really explain how I "hanicapped" :-D these races...
I made KY at even because the TN river extends all the way down to Alabama. It is not out of the question that a Alabama-strain largemouth could swim up the TN river up to KY Lake. Those fish could tip the scales at 15 pds. Plus, KY is just soo huge, and has a great forage base, I really do think KY has the best chances for a record. I think McNeely is way too overfished for a record bluegil, and I've seen some HUGE gils in the strip pits, thats why I left McNeely off and put in the pits. With the stripes, C-Land is a gimme. I do think that a state record smallie will come out of Laurel one day, the only factor is time. I have heard of smallies, just a pound short, coming out of Laurel. The reason why I do not think the walleye record will ever be broke is because 1) It has stood for 50 years, 2) Its the 3rd largest fish ever caught and 3) It was caught on Cumberland before it got fished out of river-strain walleyes. Also, because of the unfortunate situation at C-Land this year, I do think that the trout records are here to stay as well.

Bassking I think your are right .... Malone,Barron, Ky,and Breashears all have trophies in them and who knows just maybe State Record.

The State record smallmouth is the same as the world record. Both Tennessee and Kentucky claim it for their state record.

I agree with dcbasser. I don't go to Wood Creek much, but I was there last year and saw a bass getting ready to go on the nest that had to be 10+. The buck bass that was with her had to go 6+.
