Got out with Billy this morning at O'Dark-Ugly...was so excited to get out that I missed the turn off 627 and drove us about 436 miles farther than we had too.
The ramp was decent...still a bit tricky and you need to hit it at the right place, but it's all good. It looked like progress was being made on the bait shop.
The water was stained, running 44-45 degrees, with some current...windy in places, calm in others, depending on the topography. The sun came out a time or two, but it finally started raining pretty good as we left. We also saw several dying shad...some were small, some were bigguns.
Had some pulldowns on the FNF that come unbuttoned...I caught a real nice crappie on a deadlined hair jig (though the picture must not have taken, because it wasn't on my camera when I got home!)...had another one come off. Billy caught a largemouth under the bobber. All in all, a slow day of activity, but so nice to get out on the water. The fish just weren't in the mood.

Oh yeah, fish are holding in deep water, tucked in tight and relating to shoulder pads. LMAO!!

Sidenote: The steering on my boat went completely out...bye-bye...no steering. It decided to do this in a curve. Suddenly it was like turn 4 at Daytona and I was heading for the wall. I killed the motor, but still had momentum with no steering. Luckily, crisis was avoided...but it was a serious situation there for a second...Billy engineered my steering mechanism back together and it got us back to the truck. Much obliged for that, because I couldn't have fit my big butt under the console to work on it, much less figure it out in the first place.

nice pic of Billy The real fish warrior
Wow man, Didn't you get the boat steering worked on around Dec? Hope you get it fixed soon. Good Luck.
Wow! What came loose? At least they fixed the popping noise huh?
Yeah it was a slow day. The boat steering thing bothered me. I hope the person who installed that cable got a good tongue lashing.
Nice crappie though post a pic of it...

The picture of the crappie must not have took Billy....couldn't find it anywhere on my camera when I got home. It was a good'un though.
Yeah, I had my steering replaced under factory warranty late December. Got the boat out one time in January, but it was to Wilgreen and there wasn't much steering going on. (idle speed, straight shot up lake and back) Didn't get to Dale in February (thank goodness) and this was the first time out with the boat under power and steering. Everything seemed fine, but apparently Stevie Wonder did my repair work, because the assembly was NOT installed correctly and the hole thing came loose...steering went to nothing and the wheel would just spin freely. Oh yeah, and the wiring to my bilge bump was left unconnected...glad I didn't need that either.
Needless to say, went to Stokley's this afternoon and saw Ralph...not too happy. They were very apologetic, pulled it right inside and jumped on it to find the problem. He said he'd try to have it done Monday morning for me. Ralph is being more than accomodating to make it right. So we'll see how she goes...luckily, no big crash. I kept thinking, man...what if I had been 6 miles from the ramp on Dale Hollow? (which is where I would have been if I hadn't got screwed into working on the get-together weekend.)
Some things happen for a reason, at least you was close to home and the creek wasn't crowded with people in the turns " Yikes". They will get it fixed.
Wow that would have been tough on Dale. Yep, Ralph is good people i'm sure he will have it back in perfect shape. Glad you guys made it ok.
Went back today with Fishunter...Day started off slow...we caught 10 on the fly before I had to leave around 3pm. biggest about 2lbss
