According to my tests and findings I am unhappy to report that there are no bass of any species living in Barren River Lake. Either that or they are on strike.

Water has color, and temps range from 52-58 degrees. And I doubt you'll see anything lower than that with the forecast.
The fish are moving, and as long as a cold snap doesn't hit, (not in the forecast!) you should be able to catch them on the kitchen sink. Try the kind with the shiny faucet!
Spinnerbaits, jigs, cranks, and jerkbaits are catching fish. DONT go running to the back of ANY of the creeks. Especially Peters Crk. The roadbed is only 18" under the water. I couldn't get to the skaggs/beaver split. Long point was in sight, but I was diggin mud, and I don't know exactly where the channel is. Tried to escape boat traffic by going to the river, and I don't suggest that either unless you know exactly where your at, and where your going, lol.
Main lake produced better for me, but that don't mean much, lol. You had to have a ticket, reservations, and just about everything in between to get on any bank and have over 100 yards between you and any other boat. With any luck, this weekend there will be fewer boats on the water.
Oh wait a sec, 70+ degrees, good weather, and everybodys got spring fever. Scratch that idea, lol.
You'll have fun, no doubt. Good Luck!
...amen to that...maybe the fish are actually protesting all the boat traffic..why cant I find a fish there...Don I hope your right about the kitchen sink...I think they should prolly give out numbers for banks this weekend though with the nice weather...thanks guys
Jesse Duncan and I talked today. Hybrids are picking up and they seem to be stacked on main lake points. Good bass fishing is also reported shallow in 3 to 6 feet of water on crank baits and spinner baits. If you can not catch bass at Barren, (which has one of the best populations in the state) give up fishing and take up golf.. OR HIRE JESSE DUNCAN to take you out and show you around the lake. Jesse is a guide and is terrific. He will help you mark a map for free if you hire him for a trip. He is 75 and has been fishinig this area since before it was a lake. He knows where houses were, and old silo's and all kinds of stuff including old Indian Burial boxes that are now under water.

Just call me... pastorputter from now on... wait, I'm terrible at golf too. Golf is one of those things used by the devil to make preachers cuss. How does a feller get a hold of Jesse Duncan?
