Got a chance to get out of work around lunchtime. Launched at Bryants Camp. Water temps. were around 68.7 in the river and 66.2 at Dunn island. Thought I would try a little early season crappie fishing, not much wood in the water. I hit every good looking tree that had a little bit of the top still submerged. Wound up with 7 crappie and 2 nice cats fishing live minnows and curly tail jigs. All fish were caught from 2 to 6 feet deep. Both cats were against the bank. Seven crappie may not seem like a good day but all 7 were from 13 to 15 inches long. Hogs for Herrington!! Watch out for some floaters below Kings Mill to Dunn Island. With all the rain last night and today, there was quite a bit of current and the upper end will probably be muddy by morning. Hope this helps someone catch a few. Good luck to everyone this weekend!!
