    Back from Barren...................

Well guys and gals just walked thru the doors after a long days work and a long night fishing on Monday. First time on Barren and I think it is an absolutly beautiful lake if it wasn't 3 hours drive from where I live. Fished for Hybrids and from 8:00 P.M. till about 10:00 P.M. we done pretty good. We took 2 boats landed 9 hybrids and 3 largemouth. Biggest hybrid was 7.03. After 10:00 it just died. I think the moon had a big impact on them. We lost several fish and had the straightened hooks out a couple of times. Two newbies to the fishing game and they caught their first fish which was very enjoyable to watch. The 12 year lost one hybrid that appeared to go over 10 pounds. All fish were caught with baby 4's in the Shad color.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like fun for all. My wife and I caught our first Hybrids last summer and we loved catching them. Our son has never fished for them and we would love to put him on one. Can you or someone please tell me where I should be able to find these fish this time of year and how to catch them? We have only fished for them in the heat of last summer.

    Many thanks,
    DA

Nothing swimming in Barren'll stretch your string like them hybrids. Some good memories of my 2 boys and me fishing for Barren hybrids during their spring break. My personal best is 11 plus change, and he tried hard to pull me out of the boat.

Had a behemoth I'd guess to be at least 10 absolutely maul a crankbait and beat me up pretty good last week while I was black bass fishing. Like to never got that one to give up,

BTW, Greenriverman, try a crankbait with a shad profile on transition bluffs late in the day. You could also watch the birds on the main lake. When they start swooping and diving, haul it over there and start casting a rattletrap or crank amongst the shad. When the hybrids are busting the surface you could cast an old boot in there and get bit.
