going camping in a few weeks and i always put out a trot line but with no luck what do yall think would be good bait for this time of the year.
livers..............
bluegill or shad are both good choices. Where are you running them at? I usually start putting mine out about the first week of May depending on the river conditions.
Chicken strips soaked in Strawberry jello...Let them soak for at least 24 hours, catfish just love the taste for some reason.....Really works at Taylorsville I know for a fact.......![]()
I am a jingleline nut myself and I bait with craws, nightcrawlers, and small bluegill. I dont start til May tho. Had some big cats on them bluegill. Ky river is where i do it.
Put the lines out in May and June in rocky areas where the cats spawn. Bluegill is a good bait for flatheads and they can eat large bluegill without any trouble. I am also curious if anyone fishes the green river (not the lake)for cats?
Good luck,
DA
thanks for the info it is just one of those things you know when you are camping. i know it is early but you know how it is. thanks ya much i will be at green river
I have no doubt this works, and I mean no disrespect at all, but... who the heck first came up with the idea of soaking chicken strips in strawberry jell-o, and was there alcohol involved?
I think it probably started in pay lakes as those fish have everything thrown at them...something different....not much luck with that in the Ohio...
