    Dale Hollow info please

We are thinking about going to Dale Hollow to camp and fish next week. Does anyone have any suggestions about where to camp? I've never been there before and need some help. Thanks, Shane

If I was going to Dale Hollow to camp and especially fish this time of year I would look at doing it at mid lake area is is your best bet especially the fishing. Lillydale camp ground is good, but I would choose willow grove myself due to camping there several times years past. Good quite place with a good family atosphere with the marina right beside the camp grounds and a little store for most of your needs. The camp grounds has a boat launch as well with bath houses, water/ele. hook ups available. and any where in that area on the main lake points and pockets will get you bit as far as fishing goes. You have obey river park and sunset marina together on the upper end of the lake towards Byrdstown, with lillydale, then willow grove, then star point going down towards the dam. Check them out on the web at www.dalehollowlake.com. Good luck...283

I live here by Dale, the state park offers a campground, with full amenities.
The down side its a a mile from the water but there is a dock for overnight parking. You need to know the lake is 4 feet plus above summer-pool and will be held there the entire summer. Sulpher Creek, under the name of Mike's Landing, HAS a camping area you can give them a call, both these are on the glasgow through burkesville side of the lake, make sure u know where the Ky water area is for license.

We also offer a varity of cabins to rent near the lake i know you said camping but should u ever need a cabin near the water give me a shout. and if i can help with other locale info too

Thanks for the information. What parts of the lake can be fished with a Kentucky license?

The KDFW website says "Dale Hollow Lake

Anglers may use either a Tennessee or a Kentucky sport fishing license while fishing in the Wolf River arm of Dale Hollow Lake. This includes the Illwill Creek embayment beginning at a line crossing the Wolf River at its mouth where it joins the Obey River and the main part of the lake.

Anglers must obey the regulations of the state in which they are licensed. Kentucky residents must have a Kentucky license."

    What about Sulpher Creek"

You have some reciprocal water out of the state dock on the tenn side the dock can tell you how to take the cut through to fish in this area

Just to clarify this statement. The normal power pool (summer pool) for Dale Hollow is 651 elevation. During the recent high water this spring the pool never went much beyond 653. As of today the elevation is 651.16. These figures are from the Corps website. I don't understand, if you live near the lake, why you wouldn't know this. The lake was never 4 ft over pool this year.

    Quote from USCE Nashville site:

"Average June Pool Elevation at Dale Hollow Lake is approximately 648.00 feet above sea level."

PS, also from the CE site:

Dale Hollow Lake Elevations Will be Higher during 2007
Due to the decision to maintain Lake Cumberland at a lower 680-foot elevation for the seepage rehabilitation project, Dale Hollow Lake may maintain a higher than usual water elevation early in 2007 and then, later in the year, may be drawn down to a level that is lower than customarily seen.
Lake Cumberland, as a storage facility, typically supplies water to the Cumberland River for a variety of authorized purposes and that storage capability will be lost during the rehabilitation project at Wolf Creek Dam.
Dale Hollow will assume some of the water supply mission for Lake Cumberland in 2007.
