    Stroker, Bullet, & Allison Boats

Anyone have a Stroker, Bullet, Allison boat? If so how do you like it? I've looked at a Bullet, and they're nice, but I'm just curious as to how the others stack up. My main reason is fuel milage. Speed is fun, but I'm thinking a lighter boat would be a little easier on the gas. Also what motor is building a name for gas milage? I wish they made a diesel outboard...lol

I don't know about the boats, but I have a 150 Merc. Optimax that I can't seem to run the gas out of. I bought my boat Monark 195 King September of last year and have been on the water at least 35 times and ran my motor a lot and it still has a little under a half a tank of gas in it. It does have a big tank, however my 2001 xr6 150 used at least .5 gallons a minute. I love my new one.

I am running a new ETEC HO on my boat after having run Opti Max for last 9 years. The gas milage seems to be about the same if not slightly better...less oil usage...quieter...more powerful, especially on the lower end range and comes with a longer warranty. Also there is no scheduled maintenance for the first 3 years...the longer warranty and less maintenance is a big plus with today's prices.

Speed is fun but my main reason is fuel mileage...if you are really after a boat motor combo that is fuel efficent I would think that a Bullet with a Evinrude Etech would be the ticket. I am not speaking from personal experience with a Bullet/Evinrude combo just my opinion...but I would also like to throw this into the mix. If you go with a Bullet/Evinrude I hope you plan on keeping the boat for the long haul. The Bullet holds its resale value and so does the Etech but the mojority of people who own a Bullet want a Mecury...yes thay are a few mph faster. Most people buy a Bullet with speed on there mind hence the reason they want Mercury. However the Etech will have a little better gas milage and will use far less oil than a Pro XS or any other Mercury.

My *opinion* is you would not see a mojor gain in fuel milage with a Bullet / Stroker / Allision I am sure it would be a little but not enough to justify a 20 ft plus hull. Look at more options something in the 18-19 ft range with a 150-200hp motor. Some suggestios would be Stratos 294 -200hp Etech or Stratos 285 150 Etech or Trition 196 -200hp Etech or Trition 186 150 Etech. Plus there is many other good combos out there.

I am not trying to steer you away from bullet because they are a fine boat. I just dont want to see you with a hull that might be hard te resale because all the go fast Bullet owners run a Mecury some of them even hang Mercury racing motors on the back...yes a Bullet will scream

I am not sure where everyone is getting that the E-Tech has the best fuel mileage. All the test that Bass And Walleye boats magazine has done shows the E-Tech is the worst of the 3. With Merc Opti being the best, Yamaha 2nd and E-Tech 3rd. As far as oil consumption, E-tech does win, However only when the engine is programmed to use the XD-100 oil. The XD-100 oil is around $35 a gallon Vs. 24.00 for the XD-50 or Merc Opti oil or Yamlube. All thses engine are great motors compared to the 2 stroke outboards of the past, it really comes down to, pick the one you like and buy it.
As far as the most efficent boat, I would say either the Bullet or the Allison, I sell Bullets and I think these are the best fishing boats of the 3, The fuel milage with a Bullet is awesome. I do think the Allison is a tad bit better on fuel, however initial cost of a Allison is substantially more and resale of a Bullet is better due to more demand.
If I can help you in any way, please feel free to give me a call.
