    Talking Floating Cumberland River

I'm heading for CR Saturday morning. Is there enough water to float from Helms to Winfreys? How about motoring back? I'll be in a 14 foot aluminum. It will run in about 18 inches of water. Anybody catching any good ones?

Well I can tell you that it will be a struggle to motor back. But for as the float down it should go rather descent if you are able to pull the boat over most of the shallow riffles without any problems. THe river is way down most of the time now and for as waiting for the flow to rise the river enough to motor back it will not happen. As for the fishing the fish are biting. GOOD FISHING...

    Re: Floating Cumberland River

I floated the river earlier this week with a 14 foot jonboat from Helms to Winfrey with a shuttle car at Winfrey. NOWAY can you come back up. Water was 62 degrees at Winfreys and the cement ramp was 4 feet out of the water. Depending on your trailer and boat weight, 4 wheel drive MAY be necessary.
Unbelievably tomorrows generation schedule shows NO GENERATION...ZERO!!Must be an error.
You must be able to lift your boat off the trailer at helms or have a roller trailer. Or drive downstream at Helms on the gravel and burry your axle under water.
Fishing was good in isolated areas where there was current...much of the river has 6 inches of algae that holds no fish. Take your waders.
Enjoy, but if that generation schedule says zero generators everything I said is potentially meaningless.

I should be in good shape. Had to go to the middle last year and lift the boat off. I'll be sure to pack the waders. I have a new pair. Need to give'em a try.
