So if they are pulling the cooler water from the lake I would think that this will affect the larger stripers and walleye population later this summer??

Beginning today the Dam will run the outgoing water every six hours through the sluice gates and not the generators. This water is 7 degrees cooler than that from the generators because it is lower in the dam. If you noticed todays generation schedule it says ZERO; because all water is going through the sluice gates, at approximately the same flow as last week.
Fish and Game is trying to get a baffle on that gate and dribble out water all day long to keep water temperatures down. Overal daily outage would be the same as we've seen, but a continuous flow.Thats a ways out in the future. Fish and Game is doing everything they can to protect the resource but there are lots of worries as we get further from the dam. Handle your fish delicately and keep them in the water..forget the picture if you have to..and revive all fish before releasing. Be positive and do your share. As they say we all live downstream.
This info is from the quarterly commisioners meeting today that is open to the public.

Let's all hope this works and pray for rain the whole state needs it but especialy this delicate ecosystem
This is reasonable good news, at least they are trying the best they can. I live in Northern Kentucky and we seldom and I mean seldom go without rain, I've had well over two inches in the last ten days or so. However it seems the southern part of the state around Cumberland and other places down there never get rain. I sure wish we could shift some of this rain down there and help things out as that area needs the water badly. A big bunch of rain down there would do a whole lot to help out that's for sure.
It seems the travisty of this thing is sad. Hey, we come first
But at the same time AN AWESOME fishery for a lot of folks is seeing a hard path the way Ma Nature's watering her flowers.
I wish it was so that they had to crank it up for too muc rain this summer, instead of the winter.
At least we'd have the water temp on our sides....

Is there a place on line I can find this info from the quarterly commissioners meeting?
I go to the lakecumberland.com site to get all of the newest info on Lake Cumberland. They also have a nice forum to see what all of the locals and out of towners are talking about. They do have some good discussions like sunken boats and such.
