Guist Creek

Heading to guist creek weekend of the 23rd for my birthday on a camping/fishin trip with my girlfried. Im just about finished rebuilding the Jon Boat, so Ill e taking aboat and I am planning on being on the water for a majority of the day on both saturday and Sunday, maybe Friday night as well.....

Im lookin for any advice you all are willing to give up for fishin at guist....only been there once, so any help is appreciated.

Just about everyone I know who fishes Guist this time of year does so at night. Usual night lures - 10" worms, jigs, big colorado blade spinnerbaits, etc.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got on Guist was don't be afraid to fish off the bank some. If I was fishing during the day, I'd downsize and try to fish deep water and do something no one else was doing, maybe drop shot or C-rig.

Although we were bass fishing, if last weekend was any indication you should be able to fill your boat with bluegill if that holds any interest.

Good advice indeed. We use to cast jigs about a ten foot cast distance shy of the bank and work out slowly to the boat and get bit in the summer, worms work to. Most people this time of year have their boat right over top of the fish and the majority of the willing takers never see their offering. Please practice catch and release in that small fishery...

Thanks for the info guys, And im not keeping any bass out of there. I was planning on deep jigs a c-rigs, so you all just confirmed my previous thoughts. Maybe even get after the 'gills a little. Thanks.

I've always had good luck using twin tail grubs at this time of year.
