I thought about hauling one of my kayaks down to Highbridge last night and fishing the KY and the lower Dix for a bit, but ran out of time.

Fished the Dix below the dam Saturday and the best I can tell the bass have left the river for the KY. There were a few small 6-8 inch bass in the transition water, but that was it. If you were thinking about fishing the Dix, save your energy and time for autumn.

I would say the KY is better right now in the early morning along the rocky banks with craw or lizard imitations.
Bonefish, I got up at 5 am and nearly went to the Dix, but at the last moment changed my mind and went to Willisburg. Sounds like I made the right choice. I did very well today for not knowing the lake at all.
Dix will probably be off like this most of the summer. We did not catch a fish in the Dix all year, just on the KY below the mouth of the Dix under the bridge and a rock bar or two. Took some nice smallies there this year. I have never caught a thing on the rocky side of the river unless there is a rock bar or obvious laydown. Seems like you are either in a school of them or there are none at all.
I crossed the path of a couple of bass fishermen up the Dix Saturday, and they wished they had gone to somewhere else. That is why I thought I should let everyone know. If you fish the KY, you do find the bass move in schools. If you catch one, usually you can find more in the same area. I am currently trying to get things done on the farm so I can fish in the fall. Retirement is not too many months away so then maybe I can keep up with some of these guys who have all this time to fish. I am looking forward to meeting some of you on the water as time goes along. Since I live so close to the rivers, it makes it easy to throw a few lures after a day of work on the farm.
