    Black lights

I am new to the night bass fishing. I have a black light that just has two suction cups on the bottom of it. Is there anything that they make so that you can place it on the side of the boat so that the light is level? I have a Nitro 700 LX so if I place it on the side of the boat the light shine in the water not on the bank or where I am fishing.

    Thanks in advance

The adapter plate is usually made for boats with a rounded or narrow top rail and mounts to the inside of the top rail to give a flat surface for the suction cups to fit to. Alot of the older boats were made this way. BPS sales the plates.

Being new to night fishing, I offer this to you as a piece of advise. Shine as little light on the bank as possible at night. I have gotten to where I don't even use my blacklight and even use Flourocarbon line not flouroscent. If you must use a blacklight, the intent is to help you see your line not see the bank. If you need light to see the bank then the fish will also see this light as an un-natural light at night and they will spook, especially Smallies and Stripers. I don't catch too many good fish that close to the bank this time of year anyways so not seeing where I am casting is all that important for my cast is landing in 10 feet or so of water to start with this time of year.

the light isn't as big a deal if you are not in clear water but i always do set my light in the boat so that the light shines up and not on the water.if i am by myself i set it on the back deck behind the seat so i don't get any glare and the side of the boat blocks it from the water.i never use the suckers to hold it.

    Re: Black lights

I had the same Nitro 700 LX style boat, prior to my Triton... I never had any problem with the black lights being attached by the suction cups to the side of the boat. The shafts are quite long on my suction cups, so I was able to slightly bend the shafts and make them line up just right.

But I haven't used them at all on my Triton, I use a Type that attaches to the Bill of my Hat...But I don't use it all the time, just for re-ting a lure on...Just seems like my night senses kick in and I don't need the lights at all to fish. Even on the blackest night when fishing.....
