I am looking for someone to fish buddy tournaments on Herrington or just go fishing on Herrington Lake. I live on the lake and have a 20 foot tournament ready boat. Let me know if you are interested by emailing me at [email protected] or leave a reply on this thread. I also have a website at www.fishingcraig.com if you want to know more about me. I would also like to find someone to fish with at Cumberland, Dale Hollow, Barren, and KY Lake.

This is the million dollar question. But if you had a million dollars for me i still couldn't help you. It should make a good discussion for all of us lost guys on herrington. Here are my thoughts. The fish hang out deep like around 30 feet and come up to 15 feet to feed near the banks. I like to fish points but out here i thinks it's the 15 foot legdes with wood that hold fish and little woody pockets that are at least 10 to 15 feet.
The other feeding pattern i think is going on is with big large mouths running with the hybrids out in the open deep water busting huge schools of shad. I am clueless on how to snag these fish when they are busting. I usually catch a quick hybrid and thank god for that or i wouldn't probably go fishing out here.
The times i think most bass are feeding is probably from 3 am to around 9 am but all the tournaments are at night. If i go in the morning i can catch a quick limit all the time up til about noon. But i never get any big ones. I'm very happy if i get 2 bass over two pounds. I hate fishing slow out here because you can't cover water and with all the miles of banks i feel like i need to cover water. In the morning you can fish fast but at night it's harder to get on the banks and crank them. You'll hit the rocks or get in a tree.
Well that's my thoughts on this hell hole and now you know why i'm trying to team up with someone and try and figure things out. I also plan on tagging some with with my new tags from fishtagger.com. Hope someone will catch one of my tagged fish and let me know.
I ONLY catch fish consistently on Herrington in the early am. Like 6-9am and that's time to go home. At night, after 10pm when the water starts to cool I will occasionally catch a nice 3-4lb bass on a t-rigged dark color worm.
I usually catch fish on a bandit or small (1/4oz) rat l trap around shad in the mornings, or near wood or some kind of transition area. That being said, I have never caught fish consistently anywhere below Gwynn. Occasionally I have caught nice fish back around Cane Run. But it is awfully hit and miss on that **** lake.
Id rather spend an extra 2 hours driving, go to Pleasant hill in the mouth of Caney/Wolf and take my chances. At least there you can find good KY's if nothing else is going on.
Most boats went towards the **** in the tournament out of pandora two days ago. I think only three boats didn't go that way. i'm heading to bryant's now to fish thier weekly open tourmblament. i'm sure i'll bomb out but it is only 20 bucks to enter and only goes to 1030
guys is the marina next to gwynn island called paradise...jus wondering were it was
Hey GraigGipe
Just wondering what it took to win Jimbos tournament and how many boats were in it? Thanks
if he's talking about the thursday nighter..... took a whopping 3lb to win her. don't worry guys most have been struggling on Herrington lately. The guys that i have talked to who have been catching fish have been downsizing significantly.
Does anyone know what it took to win the Anglers Outpost tourny out of pandora last night? big fish? it looked like there was going to be a big turn out. boats? thanks.
i dont know how that one went but tokicos tourny it took 7.9 to win it and we had a limit of 7.8 and got 3rd...really suprised me at all the fish being weighed in and some good ones too
53 boats Sat. night. 5 fish limit. Took 12.96 first place, second was 12.30 with 5.5 big fish, it took around 7 pounds to money. The fish are moving alot right now (following shad). You can catch them in one spot one night and then not catch 'em there again. Good old Herrington--gotta love it.
See ya'll on the water and God bless.
