It will be real tough this weekend. With the weather I would say that the pleasure boaters will be out in force. I would fish real early or real late. Hit one of the banks near the boat ramp and try your luck. Ryan

Could someone give me a little help on the dead sea? I'm wanting to take my two boys fishing this weekend for a few hours in the morning on Saturday and I dont have a clue were to start on the dead sea; just wanting to get them into some bluegill if possible. What's sad is we live in Spencer but never fish the lake because of the pressure it gets from the pleasure boaters, etc and the few times I have fished it over the years I never had any luck. I'm a new user to this site and it's GREAT, I appreciate any help. Thanks

start before daylight be gone by 10 go to the chowning lane end you may get a little longer fishing before you get ran over.
Thanks guys I appreciate it; I usually fish my old home lake Barren River but I dont have the time this weekend to make the trip. Is it better to put in at the State Dock or Settlers Point?
settlers is better i think.take a few roostertails and watch for the hybrids too.
Bluegill in the dead sea are easy, wax worms or crickets in the coves and you will catch them by the bunches. Size may be a problem as they are usually on the small size. Catfish are on fire there right now from what I heard. Fish slip bobbers in the mouths of the creek arms about 15 feet deep with chicken cuts soaked in strawberry koolaid and you will catch some whiskers for sure. Stay adjacent to the channels when fishing for the cats and you will do fine.
Thanks guys I will give it a try figured I would go up away from the main lake as far as I could.
The wife and I went there last weekend with the rule of "no bass fishing" tackle. We threw rooster tails, roadrunners and Norman crappie crankbaits and wore the fish out. Nothing spectacular in size but we caught bluegills, white bass and large mouths. I started at the point straight out from the state dock and went right up the main lake. If you want the kids to have fun, this is the way to go.Good Luck!!!
Thanks guys, never had any luck catfishing but I sure do like to eat them. So I guess some crickets, roostertails & chic liver and kool-aid and I will be ready to go lol. Thanks I'll give a report after I go.
That koolaid soaked chicken pieces is no joke that's an old trick that's been around along time. I know it sounds wierd but it works, LOL.
Hey guys your ideas on the dead sea seemed to work pretty good Saturday; didnt do the catfish thing with the kool aid (sorry new boat) but I had one son with a white roostertail wearing the fish out and the youngest son standing by me with nightcrawler under a bobber wearing them out too. Nothing to brag about for the size of the fish except for my youngest son catching a 3lb drum on an ultra-light that was fun to watch. We couldnt buy a bite in the creeks we had to stay out on the main lake banks to catch fish. Thanks again
This is going to sound like a fish story, but one friday morning, right as a storm front was moving in, my dad and I caught over 100 hybrid striped bass on rooster tails. The bass were in an absolute feeding frenzy, demolishing schools of tiny shad. They were literally biting on every single cast.
Theres one part of the lake where for some reason, the shad congregate in massive schools. Thats the part where I usually fish at, catch alot of hybrids, largemouth bass, bluegill, and blue catfish there.
