Got out early sat and the water was in great shape, a little higher than the last time with a little more flow and a great temp, which was definitly down from the last time i was there. hit a couple on a tube early then hooked into a few more on a topwater, that bite was very slow. did get one 12" Lm. Partner got a nice 17" smallie on an inline and then we pitched tubes for the better part of the day. shortly after switching i hooked into the fattest 15" ive ever seen, this smallie was built like 2 tons of bricks. when he got hooked up he shot up about 2 feet OVER my head. We continued to catch fish all day. Mid afternoon my partner landed a 16.5" LM in some real shallow water, was a real nice fish. A LOT of small fish. For the day we caught over 100, best numbers day i have had in a long while.
Did catch 6 different species, caught multiple of each type of black bass, but mainly smallies. Red eye, was my first one in this area in over 3 trips. a crappie about 7". Also the big daddy a 21" catfish that hammered a tube. Ol whiskers was probably pushing 5lb.
The fishing stayed pretty consistant all day. but later A little pop up storm came through and when it was done the fish went wild for a second. Throwing a tube into current behind some riffs, caught 4 fish in a row and every single one of them had a craw in its mouth (the only ones all day that did) These craws were still moving and pinching and had probably been in the mouth less than a few seconds. It only lasted for about 10 minutes but it was wild, they were hungry and just jumping out the water. guess that storm really pushed their buttons. Had a great day.
