depth finder problem

My Humminbird depth finder recently quit working. When my engine is running it no longer can find the bottom. It barely works at an idle, and works fine after I shut off my engine. Its set up with a through the hull transducer. Worked fine for 2 years and I havnt noticed that the transducer has gotten loose. I moved my power cable to my trolling motor battery to maybe eliminate electrical noise. Am I on the right track or is it just time to buy another depth finder? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with my unit and found out from various sources that the epoxy had seperated from the boat. I removed the transducer from the epoxy that was holding it in, cleaned it as well as the old epoxy out of the boat and also cleaned the area where I was going to reapply it and now it works fine.

I'll give it a try. Now comes the fun job of trying to remove the transducer from the hull of the boat.

Put some water on the transducer next time you are in the water, It want take a lot, sounds stupid but a friend did it for years, about half gallon.

That will work. I had an older model flasher that would loose signal running down the lake unless I put some water in the hull.

Thanks guys. I got up the nerve to pry on the transducer and it came up way to easy, now Im gonna clean the area and epoxy it back down again.
