Lowrance H20.. I like it..
I have the Garmin GPSMAP76 and it has never failed me in 3 years.
Lowrance iFinder Hunt. Get one for a little over $200.
I have a handheld garmin if you are interested.
I really liked theLowrance ifinder H20. I had the color one which was great. But it was extremely easy to use.
I had a Magellon 200 that was really nice and you can now get them for under $ 120.00. I used it while fishing on the river and Nolin. Also it would show you the speed you were traveling while on the water.
If your interested I have a Magellan sport track pro it includes a PC cable and a ram mount works great and holds a ton of waypoints and with the pc cable you can also download way points off of your computer I still have the original packaging and recipts new cost over 300.00 I will ship it to your door for 200.00 it also comes with a vhs tape on all its capabilitys.
Thanks for the replys guys. Might have Santa bring me one. Saving money now for a new Shimano Stradic 3000.

I realize you are in Lex. but if you are in the area or know someone who lives around the BPS in Cincinnati they have one cheap. They are having their fall hunting sale and have a one day special on Friday the 14 on a Garmin Etrex. They are normally 99.95 on sale for 49.95. You can check out the circular for that store on BPS website.
I've had my Etrex for 5-6 years. Only complaint is that the screen is so small. Great to play with on trips only if you have a cig adapter. Eats batterys.
rustedhook,
I read a lot of guys talking about how great their hand helds are, and I have no doubt they are that great. But, I used to have a hand held unit, and I was always scared to death I was going to drop it over the side of the boat, or forget it laying on the front deck, and take off and have it go saling through the air.
If you get one, I'd reccomend one like the one mentioned that comes with the ram mount so You can afix it to your boat.
Now I have to admit, when I had my hand held unit, it was around 1996, and they were at least $600, so losing it was much more problematic.
If you get one that does contain maps, then I would recommend a color unit. That is really the only thing I'm disatified with my unit. But when I got it in '02, color was super expensive. Amazing how prices have come down.
Good luck, and I hope you find exactly what you want.
Danny
