Jim and his 31 inch Walleye

Team Fishin.com took its almost annual trip to Green Island Lodge, and well, I have to say it was a great trip. Imagine if you will 4 guys fishing for Muskie. You pull up to a spot and start casting. Nothing seems to work so you go to your stand by all time best lure the Plain #4 Mepps with silver blade, to see if you can get a follow so one of the guys can figure 8 a muskie. You get a good hook up and there is no shaking of the head like a pike so you figure you FINALLY have your muskie.. only to have the guide say, its a big ole Walleye....
NOW this is a 31 inch Walleye, FAT as can be, and probably on the high side of 14 pounds maybe even 15 and you are disappointed that it was not a muskie..
Yeah, about an hour later it dawned on me that it was the fish of a lifetime. FEW people EVER catch a walleye that big.. and I had one in the boat and was "DISAPPOINTED"?????????????????????????? DOH, a Homer Moment..
Guys after it sunk in what I had, I can honestly tell you I became ecstatic.
It is probably the lake record. I did release the fish to swim again so if you want a chance at a 15 pound Walleye, Green Island Lodge has one and it is right in front of the lodge about 200 yards straight out from the Lodge and the about 100 yards from Green Island..
I have video but it is 5 AM and I need some sleep after a long nite driving home but I will get it up today.. I just have to find it.
