    c-land need help

I will be going to C-land in a couple of weeks. I will be taking my fishing buddy who is vision impaired. I would love to get him on some fish. We will be staying around wolf creek area. We will be fishing for bass, but I am willing to catch shad for him in the mornings to see if he can hook into a striper. Any help would be great for bass or stripers. Thanks for your time.

You might be a tad early on your trip. Cumberland gets weird for bass in the early fall. Sept and Oct can be tough months to get bit especially September. All that being said I have had some stellar days in Oct. Target main lake points and the first several points inside creek arms. Crankbaits will catch you some fish also jigs can be deadly. Don't be afraid to work the jig deep back to the boat as many strikes will come half or more back to the boat. Keep your eyes and ears open for jumps. Mid to especially late Oct, Spots will herd shad to the surface and bust the tar out of them. Smallmouth and largeheads will mix in with them letting the Kentucks do most of the work while they clean up on left overs. Any good walkers will do, shad colored Sammy's, Spooks or some of my secret APB'S specials, shhhh. This time of year I will actually drive around in some of my usual haunts and look for jumps. Just remember stay back as far as you can from them and make long casts and stay off the trolling motor as much as possible and hang on one of them ole brown fish might break your arm. Good luck and please practice CPR.
