    louisville

I am going to fish The Louisville area on Wednesday, does anyone know a good ramp to launch from? Any good areas to fish down that way? I have never fished this area, are there any hazards I should watch out for? I will be looking for Black bass. Also what do you think the cold front will do the the bass?

    Thanks for your help!

there is a ramp on indiana side called Duffy's which is nicer than the one on KY side called Cox's Park. I can't say what's going on, I haven't fished for some time. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply. Will I need an Indiana Lisence to launch from their ramps?

The upstream side of six mile island should be pretty good right now, on the shallow bar/flat. There are some good sized root/log jams on that end as well that usually have bass nearby. The water was pretty darn clear last time I was out there, and I'd expect it to still be so. Current has been pretty much non-existant. On that same island, there are some rip-rap piles that are pretty good and you'll see them plain as day. There's a marina just upstream of that island with an old floating rundown restaurant out front, fish the heck out of that thing, along the steel seawall, and all up in the marina - there's a trackhoe on a barge in the back that usually has a bass up under it.

The mouth of Harrod's Creek is sometimes pretty good, but watch out for the traffic and a stupid old man in a ski boat that will run you up on the bank and then yell at you for "being in the middle of the creek!" Apparently he's an anti-fishing nazi and has no clue what "the middle" is. I think he's nuts! Ha ha!

It's a fun area and usually a good time, but pretty difficult at times to catch fish! Have fun out there and let us know how you do!

Thanks for the info. I'll try the areas you told me about and put a post back on here around Friday. Hopefully this cold front will cool the water down and help the fishing. I fished the pool above Carrolton Monday, but couldn’t land any keepers. I did unintentionally catch some sauger and crappie though. It was fun but not what I was looking for.

    Thanks,
    Rusty
