I think you've got it pretty well covered, although you could also throw in hair/feather jigs like popeyes, etc.

can somebody tell me what good bait is for crappie besides minnows and plastics. thanks

if you are where there are good size crappies bandit cranks and 1\8 spinnerbaits do real well.Early in the spring when they just start getting around cover prespawn and you just get one or two here and there it works real well.
Wax worms, mill worms and sometimes horseweed worms.uncle josh crappie bait, small inline spinners and sometimes beetle spins,
To all of the already mentioned, I would add :
Live Shad (<3")
Live Brook Silversides
Microspoons (artificial)
But, when all is said and done ... minnows/shiners, or a jighead with plastics/hair/feathers/etc .... are hard to beat, overall. They probably account for 90% of the Crappie caught.
... cp
thanks.
My cousin called me 5 minutes ago. He had about an hour to kill and headed to Lake Herrington with no boat... 45 minutes of fishing and he caught 18 crappie and 4 spots. All the crappie were keepers! Man, had I only been with him!!!!
Oh yeah, he caught every fish on plastics...
A good HANDMADE JIG.....Now I wonder where I got that from????????
