My report for November 1 is missing...do you want me to put it back up or do you have it?

While updating a new computer, I accidentally moved the Reports Section of Fishin.com...
I am reloading it to the site from my old computer.. but it may take an hour or so. IF you find any strange reports let me know and I will try to get it fixed.

Does it really matter, I mean most all of the reports are useless. There so old that it is really a joke to look at. I don't know why they can't be loaded every week on a certain day. Not judging here I just have come to accept that if I want a report I am better off posing the question on the discussion board. Even in the summer and spring the reports are weeks to months off. While updating a new computer, I accidentally moved the Reports Section of Fishin.com...

I never have figured out why so many people place so much emphysis on fishing reports or even why they ask on the discussion board "what are they hitting on?" (or some such nonsense).
I am far from an expert fisherman, and don't even consider myself to be a "good fisherman", but I have learned enough about CATCHING to know that no matter when I go I "shouldda been here yesterday!!"
I have seen more days than I can count, when a pattern I found in the morning doesn't hold for later in the day. That tells me that what they were hitting on yesterday and where they were at yesterday is not likely to be the same today, much less the same when a "report" is a few days old.
To me, half the fun of fishing is trying to figure out where the fish will be and what they will be hitting on TODAY. I have found that there are very few times when the all the fishing condtions are exactly the same today as they were yesterday; however, when I put my thinking cap on and try to remember a day similiar to today and what I did that day THAT WORKED in catching fish, then I try the same things today and see of it works. If it doesn't work I change lures or change locations until I find the fish and what they are hitting.
Unfortunately, I have been SKUNKED more times than I care to remember and that is why I said I am not even a good fisherman. However, as they say: "A bad day fishing is better that a good day at work anytime!"
Grumpy
I totally agree with you grumpy, but I think his point is if the reports are going to be on the site they should be current or remove them. But it is not only this site I went to the COE site yesterday and they have the surface temp at Dale Hollow listed as mid 70's. If the report is bad then say it is bad, if nothing more that just to let guys know what ramps are open, lake level, temp, etc. could help guys plan where they might like to go.
The largest percentage of reports are regular.Does it really matter, I mean most all of the reports are useless. There so old that it is really a joke to look at. The Kentucky reports suffer from a problem with internet access by most of the guides who live in smaller towns, or outside them and who have not learned how to send email.Dave Stewart is regular as clock work.. Dave I got the old reports back and reloaded yours..
I try to call regularly but well.. life gets in the way sometimes. However The Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Texas, Arkansas and some Illinois reports are done regularly.. as is the Patoka report.
I have a new reporter for the Ohio River who is fairly regular..
I tend to do the phone calls on Sunday for the Strader Report.. then forget to upload them to the site. When I forget send me an email.. I willl be happy to send you the report.. and to post it when I forget.
Sincerely
Jim Dicken
Hey guys, I like the reports so please keep it up. Dave is very reliable and it seems to me that what he says about Kentucky and Barkley tend to be be very similar to what happens on Barren. Thanks to all who take the time to post the reports. I do wish someone close to Green and Dale Hollow would post reports more often though.
I live by dale hollow, & have a houseboat at the state dock, if im not fishing with some of the guides or helping them pull bait IM fishing though i use shad or blue gil fish I can share with you what i know about whats going on
Thanks for the kind words. It takes a lot of my time and effort to collect my notes, make my contacts, and put it all together to write my report each week. I personally think that a fishing report can be a very valuable bit of information in the trip planning process or I would not be spending my time writing one every week.Hey guys, I like the reports so please keep it up. I think the REPORTS are a big asset to the board and should continue at all costs.![]()
Hey, Thanks. Im gonna take you up on that towards the latter part of this week. I would like to get over that way maybe Friday. I'm not sure if I can launch over there though. Surely there is a ramp somewhere close to the Kentucky side where a person can get in and out.
