I don't know the size number but SMALL for you don't want something too heavy or it will make the bobber stand up without the weight of the jig. I think the brand I use is made by Spro, they are small and Black. You don't need anything too heavy.

Just wondering how small a swivel I need to use. Going to give it a try up here on the New River in WV. Anybody willing to trade trips at Dale for some New River float trips ? Have raft and bassboat will travel.

I just got the gold colored #6 and it worked fine in the tub.

Hey thanks for the info. Our water temps up here are already in the low 50's to upper 40's so It's time to give it a try. I may try to get down there for the seminars, I'm down that way alot with family in the Richmond area. Hey Elnut I've never met ya but I've learned alot from reading your posts. Heal up and get after them when you can. Thanks
No disrespect to the GOLD but I only buy black 3-way swivels. With as bright as the sky can get and as clear as the water gets at Dale the Gold will shine brightly on top of the water and reflect a lot. I am no pro and don't have a clue as to whether this effects the fish or not but when I can see the reflection from the boat the I wonder what they see 10-12 feet below. I only buy Black swivels for this reason. I want to thank the number I buy is #4, they are Black and "One Piece" what I mean by this is the rings are attached straight to the center with no "wrapping" of metal if this makes any sense. Go to the One Stop in Celina, first aisle on the left they are hanging at the top around the bobbers and other swivels on the right side before you get to the bathrooms, balck and yellow packaging. I think they are SPRO brand but could be wrong.
Hey thanks for the heads up elnut about the gold swivels. Never thought about that...you might be on to something.
Why do I get the feeling you may have been to the one stop more than once Elnut. Sure is good to see you posting. Have a good holiday and get well soon we are pulling for you to get back on the water. No disrespect to the GOLD but I only buy black 3-way swivels. Sat at the last table next to the bathrooms MANY MANY MANY hours talking smallmouth (mostly FNF) fishing with Steve Headrick. When you throw in the time I spent at the same table with Bobby Westmoreland, Bob Coan, Ralph Sandfer and a tad bit more time with Bobby Gentry, plus the guy that works for Shimano who is working with Steve Headrick on designing a FNF rod, MANY MANY more hours have been spent there as well. I can't graph the exact layout of the One Stop but I do know exactly where the FNF items are for a fact. Counting the Pizza's (which are excellent), and you have to try the Philly Cheese Steak Sub (which is BETTER), and his BBQ joint next door, the gas pumps outside, he loves it when I come to town $$$$$$$$$$$$.
Know one knows the fnf better than ol elwood. Good to see you on the board elwood hope everything is mending nicely and you are feeling much better. Hey Billy when you get that fly tieing gig going let me know. I'll drive up and see if I can learn a few things. I plan on a lot of fnf this year and just talked my partner in getting him a rod. You all got any suggestions on reels to use.
Stopped in at Backwaters today and in their FnF section, they have a small, gold 3-way.
Michael
