Great Idea Barry. for those of us that can't afford cable.
I record / DVR them every week and then delete them afterwards. I don't know how to transfer the recordings to a VCR tape or I could fix you up year round. I was over at Bullfrog Creek Tackle Store this week and since he's going out of business. He's selling everything 50% off, and I do believe I saw some fishing video's on a rack for sale. So you could get some really cheap. Does anyone know how to transfer DVR recordings to a VCR or a DVD player blank DVD Disc? If so could you let me know.
Thanks Clyde
What kind of DVR do you have? I used to have the standard one you could get from DirectTV that was made by Tivo, and with that one, if you select a program you have recorded, on the left there's a menu with options like Play, Delete, etc.. one of the options should be "Record to VCR." You have to hook up a VCR so that it's in between your DVR and your TV (kind of a pain), and you can't record or watch anything else while it's transferring to the VCR. So you start it playing, and start your VCR recording on the right channel, and like I said you basically have to watch whatever you're transferring. There are also DVD recorders out there now. I've never used one, so I'm not sure exactly how you hook them up. I recently took the plunge into HD, and my new Direct TV HD DVR has an ethernet port on it, so once I get around to running the cable, I'll be able to attach the DVR to my router, and copy recordings to my PC, then burn them to DVD. I'm pretty sure most of the new DVRs have ethernet ports, whether they're HD or not, so if your DVR is new, you should be able to do it. If you need help on networking your computers, feel free to PM or email me. It's really not hard to do if you have any electronic inclinations whatsoever.I record / DVR them every week and then delete them afterwards. Oh and a word to the wise... making these recordings for personal use is perfectly legal, but distributing them is not. I would never do that. And if I did, I wouldn't say so in a public forum like this one![]()
Well I got a DVR / HD box from Insight and they hooked all the stuff up, cause I ain't the greatest person to figure out how to do this stuff. So I guess I'll pass on making the recordings due to the legality of the process. I don't want to be fined for making dupes of shows illegally for someone else.![]()
