    Stoner

Anyone been to Stoner lately? We usually make an election day weekend trip down to Paris to fish stoner which is about an hour from the house. This year I took a buddy of mine down there and man what an experience. We put in at Ike's right at daybreak and it looked great. We fooled around the ramp and the bridge for a bit with no takers. We started trolling up the rock side and out of the fog you could see a boat coming back to the ramp. As they got closer these guys looked like they came right out of the swam. They were covered from head to toe with green duck weed. They said that the duck weed was so bad by the water plant that they could not make it through. They tried to get through with the big engine and had there motor shut down on them. We talked for a few minutes and as they left they said don't try it, you can't get through. So you know what we did don't you, we tried it. When we got to the water plant there was duck weed like it was summer and there were trees in the water that I've never seen there but 50 yards beyond the duck weed was pristine water with no duck weed. 45 minutes later and 3/4 of my batteries later Lewis and Clark made it through with much celebration. We were still thumping our chest in celebration when we rounded the next bend in the creek and it was covered in more duck weed. Long story short - got out of boat walked to the flat and the big bend to see if it would be worth the effort and it was completely covered. Got back and in the boat dejected and big motored back in frustration (probably not real smart but you know how it is). Trailored up and tried to save our day at Carnico. Thank the good Lord that he made the wind blow that day because we have very little power left.

    Re: Stoner

The weed is gone now, very little remains around the brush and lay downs. Temps have fallen drastically 44 this AM.
There are still some submerged trees in the area of the waterplant raise your motor and watch for them.
