Trip to 'The Hollow' --- FINALLY

Seems like I'm a stranger to the board since I haven't made a post since last February. Have had a VERY busy year but finally made it back down to good ol' Dale Hollow last week.

First of all I must say that it was not the same without seeing Elwood on the lake and I somehow felt just a little bit of a void there. My prayers along with all of you are with Elwood.

Anyway spent four beautiful days on the lake with air temperatures almost unbelievable for December. Water temps. I marked were mostly from 53 - 55 degrees. Outside of the extremely sunny part of the day on Tues. the fishing was about as good as I have experienced. I spent most of my time fishing the F-N-F and seemed to have the better luck from half way back in the creek arms to the end. I did try some crank bait action (Cordell Spots) and caught a couple nice smallies doing this on Tues. morning.

Most the guys I ran into during the week were having very good success using a variety of methods. There were others using crank baits, jigs, and live bait but I did not talk with anyone else doing the F-N-F. Most thought it was still a little warm to F-N-F but I was having enough success to keep my interest.

My water pump started going out on me the last day there so I was not able to go very far from the marina (probably due to inactivity of boat for 9 months).

I'll try to post a picture of the biggest smallmouth. Sorry, Elwood but I'm still looking for that elusive five pounder. Caught another one 4-10.
