    Nostalgia

Does anyone still use lures from years ago. - not the Jitterbugs, Hula Poppers and Bass Orenos that are still made but River Runts, Sonics, Bombers, Hula Dancers, etc? I recently obtained some from Ebay of a non collector quality and have replaced hooks where necessary and will give them a try this spring. Hopefully, will have a fruitful trip down memory lane.

    Re: Nostalgia

Last summer I was reeling in a yellow and green bobber fishing with my sons and a bass smashed it. The only thing I had in my box that looked anything like that bobber was a green and black, with 70's style sparkles, small cotton cordel big O that I had inherited from my grandpa. I tied it on and after a few casts caught a 28 inch catfish. Then I followed that up with a couple nice bass. It was kind of cool catching fish on a bait that had been in my granpa's box.

I then took the same lure to a farm pond about a month later and caught the heck out of bass until I hooked into one who drug me under a stump and I lost it. I was nauseous when I realized what happened.

Luckily my dad had one and I was able to find a couple more on ebay.

I had a couple of the old sonics and tried to repaint them but my Clear coat finish was a bad mix and it didn't solidify correctly. So I had to toss them out, but I did catch fish on them before.

I was fishing the BSF and not having much luck when I struck up a conversation with an old timer on the bank. I gave him some of my minnows and he gave me a lure that must have been 50 years old. Well after a few more hours of not catching anything I tied on his old crankbait and let her run in the current as I ate lunch. I few minutes later the water exploded and the fight was on, a big ol' small mouth was going nuts trying to throw that crankbait. I fought her for a little while, the highlight of the trip, and then she broke off. I retreived the front half of the crankbait, the other half got digested by brobably the biggest SM i've ever hooked!

I still have fond memories of early days on the Ohio around Cannelton and Bombers in white with the wavy black line, white with black coachdog and Christmas tree!
