So if your driving a long way it might be an expensive trip, gas, coffee, breakfast, bait. This time of year tipping your jig with minnows and large ones at that can also make a difference in your catch rate. Im only basing this on the meldahl lower pool. Since you said your getting back in river fishing I have found fishing at meldahl with a 7`6" , 8` and a 8`6" rod of whatever spinning or baitcast will improve your rate on not snagging as bad , I use a okuma 8` and st croix 8`6" both salmon and steelhead rods. The okuma you can get at dicks for 45 bucks. These rods I use for hybrid, sauger, whites, up there. And before you invest a lot of money in jig heads check out this site, www.jigs4you.com. Today instead of the river I am going to try Kincaid out.
