In state I would go to Kentucky Lake.

I am taking a weeks vacation the middle of april and was wanting to get input on where would be a good place to go.I use to live in winchester and have fished the eastern part of the state. I live in louisville area now and have fished taylorsville and went to dale hollow last fall. I mainly bass fish and do some crappie fishing. I will be staying for 4-5 days where ever i go so would like for there to be cabins or such.
In state I would go to Kentucky Lake.
Make the trip down to Ky lake/Barkley. Tons of great fishing that time of year, and plenty of good places to stay. If it keeps raining like it has I would stick with the Ky lake side - Barkley can get a little muddy. I would save some money on lodging and stay in Aurora - tons of cheap lodging set up for fisherman. Then you would have some left over for a trip with Dave Stewart. I have mine reserved for later in the year and can't wait. I may be able to split a trip with you during that time if you want - hopefully my wife/financial advisor won't see this. But you can't beat these lakes in the spring.
If you come down this way, bring me some Ken-Tex BBQ. I love that place.
I'm going to KY Lake in mid April for a week, also have a trip with Dave Stewart booked as well. Needless to say I can't wait!!! If you deside on Ky/Barkley Lake you better make lodging arrangements asap, it was hard to find a 2br cabin with a opening when I booked 2 weeks ago.
