White Bass Run on Dix River

Does anyone do any white bass fishing on the Dix River? I have been fishing the run for years maybe we could share some ideas.

I fish it every year but don't go much past the riffles around the bend of Rankin's bottom. 3 years ago we hit the run on March 31 and caught 100+ and kept our limit. Since then we haven't had that kind of luck. Last year was not a good run. Went 4-5 times and caught 5-10 on those days. We usually gear up for them the second half of march into April sometimes May. When have you had the best lucK?

We use mepps spinners usually have good luck. I've also used some blue fox minnow's they worked well also.

The best luck I normally have is right at the start of april, but I usually start March 28th. Most of the time I start walking down river to Murphy's bottom and work my way past the shoot. My best luck is when I can catch the river on the rise which means i have to fish in the rain which is ok too.

I like to fish pop-eyes, rooster tails, best luck is on 2" smoke grub (Cabin Creek)

Get on highway 52 toward Danville, cross the bridge and turn on Rankin rd or park at the bridge. You can also go down 52 about a mile or so from rakin rd and turn on 1595 and hit the hanging fork river nice small mouth and rock bass there.

I heard the man who owns that stretch of property was chasing people off at the bridge?

I always put in a Camp Bryant or Bryant's Camp (can't remember). Leaving D-ville you turn right on Chenault bridge rode (it connects with RT.27 somewhere, just not sure of the name is the same on at RT. 27 end)and then hang a right at the billboard advertising the ramp. Follow that road down to the ramp. Pay $5.00 launch fee and head up river a few miles for the best fishing. Sometimes I fish the creek right across from the ramp when I'm pushed for time.

$6.00! At least he pushed the mud off the ramp last summer. I guess a guy gotta make a living.

He knows he's the only boat ramp on that section too, so I'm grateful he doesn't charge more.

I think all other docks charge $5, but its one of the better ramps. Hopefully we have a good white bass run this year. Lord knows there is enough water lol.
