you are correct! for some reason had 19in on my mind as a keeper. we did have 2 that measured 18in yesterday. 4 out of the 5 on the jerkbait.
Anthony were you twitching it fast or slow? I had a few trying to eat it with one 19 inch and another lost on the way to the boat that was at least 4 or better Monday. Both fish hit it sitting still after slow methodical jerks with long pauses, it was driving me nuts. They seemed to be right on the edge of wanting to get going on the jerkbait but not quite there if you know what I mean.
slow pauses - approx 5 sec and every fish hit when getting ready for the next jerk. i do not believe you "did" anything wrong. temps are moving up and i really believe that is the key to the jerkbait bite. should get progressively better! trying dale tomorrow with the same general plan. interesting that the fish were not eating the jig. we just put it down and went looking for water conducive to the jerk bait (read better clarity). good luck!
caught 2 largemouth on jerkbait 1 over 4lb and the other weighed 7.08 on xtools scale. Thought I had a striper. Caught numerous spots on jerkbait over 2 lbs with there gut ready to explode.
Good fishing
Wow a 7 plus slickhead out of Cumberland now that is doing something. Do you have a pic you can post. East end or West end???
George that would be one of them ole green fish like in your avatar. Slickhead aka Greenie, trash fish, largehead, green carp, ect. ect. It's kinda like when you were young and in the bars hunting the girls, the really pretty ones was the smallmouth and if you couldn't catch one of them then you settled for a largemouth.
lmao
Now i get it ha ha![]()
caught it on a realskin lucky craft jerkbait across from Grider Hill in the cove with some house boats. Had it or another one hit the jerkbait. Set into it had about 3 turns on the reel and lost it. Twitched about 3 times and the pole nearly got taken out of my hands. Thought it must be a stripper but after seeing that largemouth shaking her head she was all mine. Let her back in the water after wieghing her. Couldnt fish for awhile. Was shaking to much. Hope this help some of you guys.
Good Luck
