Leitchfield seems like a nice area. But I don't know what kind of employment your looking for or have already lined up. Why not get a job working at one of the Marina's on one of the Lakes you put in your original thread. Then your right next to the water everyday you work and can find out all the info from the fishermen when they come to the Marina.

Elizabethtown is centrally located and less than an hour driving time to each of those lakes.

I grew up in e-town, and it is right in the middle of those lakes - it is good having those options. You could also be at Cumberland in 1 1/2 hours. However, I would consider western Ky too. Much more affordable real estate, if you are not right on the water, and you have two awesome lakes.

Sometimes this website is a wealth of information...I had no idea that western Kentucky realestate was much more affordable than other areas in our beautiful state that are near water.

I agree with all said so far, and with the price of gas, you might try to decide which of these lakes is the one you like to fish most, and pick a place to live within a mile or so of that one, then trailer a little longer to the others. In that way, most of the time you'd be fishing your favoritte lake, at very low cost to get there, and less freqently spend gas money to get to other lakes.

You move near to your favorite lake and all of a sudden your new favorite lake is the one furthest away. We've all been there :-)

retired, nothing holding you in one spot.go west to the real TWIN lakes.
i'd rather move there and be able to fish those 2 lakes, the rivers below the dams, the ohio, miss. than piddle around in retirement up here for slot fish..
i see you fish about every tournament, there are many on them lakes that pay good money...then trailer up here to the mudd holes when you want to see what you are misssing..

    Re: Thinking about moving!

Unless there is some reason you are wanting to stay in the central ky area like family...etc....you need to come take a look around here in the Ky/Barkley area. Great place to live and the fishing here is as good as it gets in Ky. When I retired from the military I could have gone anywhere to live and fish....there is a reason that I settled on this area...spend some time with the folks down here and the fishing and you will know why.

I second what Dave says. You might also consider Bowling Green or Owensboro.

    Re: Thinking about moving!

I moved from a great fishing area when we retired. We moved to cumberland county, am 9 miles from one dock on cumberland, 17 miles from 4 docks on dale and cumberland, and 10 miles from the river. But belive me, the grass is always greener somewhere else. Now that gasoline is that pricey, remember those houir drives add up pretty quick. Biggest regret, poor medical service, thats something to keep in mind, we all get old, and those "golden years" mean just that but the gold goes into doctors and insurance bills.
