    Cave Run 3/31

Went to the Cave Monday, water from 49-52 degrees depending where you were. Muddy soup everywhere I went. Did not have the first hit from a bass using jigs, shaky and spinnerbait. Went to a chart. crank and still no takers. Went up into north branch with some minnows and could only scratch out three decent crappie. Rained from about 9:00a.m till i left at 3:00. Talked to a local who fished for bass all day and did not have a hit either.

Man I hope we have better luck this weekend than you did.

Have you ever fished around the Long Bow area of the lake? We will be staying close to the marina there.

I hope there is some good places to eat at near by.

I hope you have better luck next time!

Hopefully the lake will clear up some by then. If you decide to go for some crappie, they were in and around laydowns in 7-8 feet of water. I was running minnows beneath a bobber and they were just barely pulling the float down. Not real familiar with the Longbow area, but plenty of places to eat within a 15-20 minute drive. Hope you have good luck and the conditions improve for you. If you hit the by daybreak, you have the company of plenty gf gobblers thundering in the hills. This area is loaded with turkey.
    Good luck,

I'm not sure what they have at the longbow marina as I don't fish that way much but it is a long drive to Morehead from there. On the dam end of the lake you've got a couple of gas stations and then there is another one on 60 towards Morehead. That is a LONG drive though. It looks like one thing you'll have for sure is some major high water. They're predicting 3-4 inches for us here in Morgan and Magoffin which directly affects Cave Run. Be very careful and watch for floaters. The influx of fresh warmer water could help fishing though. Also don't forget the big pmtt qualifying tourney that's being held Sat and Sun out of Alfrey. You're looking at 120-150 boats right there as well as a Midwest Sportsman Bass Tourney being held out of Clay Lick. Good luck to ya and be safe.

I guess we will be heading out in the morning for the cave. I want to thank you all for your help. I'll let everyone know how the fishing went when we get back.

    Many thanks,
