What should I expext? Any way the crappie may be biting? I assume the water is way up again, I'm guessing the bass will still be in the bushes?
Any insight etc would be helpful. Will be fishing north KY Lake. Can you still launch at KY Dam Village?

You can still launch at the Dam. Ky lake is stained, but not near as bad as Barkley. I talked to a few guys today that were fishing for crappie. Notice I said fishing and not catching. They said the high water has them pretty scattered. One guy said he almost had a limit in Jonathan creek - but that was after 8 hours of fishing. The bass are definitely scattered. I have had some good days in the high water, and I have had some not so good days.
I have found them in the bushes, and on small drops from the flats and shallows.
For now I would not advise fishing barkley - most of the water is MUDDY - about 6 inches visibility. You can find some clearer pockets, but the clearest I saw Barkley today was about the average visibility on Ky. Debris in the water is so thick on the main lake of Barkley in patches you can't run much above idle. When I say debris, I am talking entire trees and many of them. As the lake stabalizes and starts to fall over the next day or two this should clear up some.
As the weather stabalizes this week the fishing should get hotter than it already is.
I took my 8 yrold son out on the lake today, Man did the lil guy have a blast. Between the 2 of us we caught 19 most of them were small but we 7 keepers. My son caught a fat Kentucky that weighed right at 3 lbs, she looked like it was full of eggs,it was sure a scrapper and i loved watching him get the fish to the net. He also caught about a 2 1/2 pd LM. but the most excitement came when he hooked and lost what looked to be about a 4 or 5 pd Sm.
Like Col Forbin said watch out for the trash in the lake, what looks like a stick poking out of the water might be a whole tree. He's right about the fishing getting hotter as the weather stabilizes this week. Hopefully alot of this trash in the water will settle down as they lower the lake this week...
Guys its spring break for alot of the kids, so if you have the chance try to take a kid fishing. I was more excited when my son caught a fish than any of the fish i caught today!!!!!!!!
Hey Guys, thanks for the replies. Are the bass up in the trees or are they out on the outer edges. Are you flipping for them or using spinnerbaits, cranks, rattle traps?
I've been flippin lizards and spinnerbaits in and around the bushes, and throwing Carolina-rigged lizards just outside of the bushes and the lil drops and flats out from the bushes. Thats what my son was using, I had made him a C-rig with a 1/2oz sinker on his spinning reel.
I will be down there in 3 weeks. I've never seen the lake that high before. My campsite is probably under water right now. I reckon there probably all up right now with the water high? Think when they drop it to summer pool, hopefully by the time I'm there, they'll move back at all?
Hopefully the lake will be GREAT by then Smooty
