May be you should contact Peter/Jim and arrange to send them updated reports for the lakes you fish each week. Once folks see how easy it is, they'll follow your example and we'll have a bunch of great reports.

not to bash fishin dot com but... why are almost all of the reports outdated or non existing I do understand that they rely on individuals to report but I feel a better report can be attained by using other sources such as guides and marinas. how does everyone else feel about this issue.

First off, I am glad to see that you are offering to help Jim get more current reports from your sources. I know that he works with several guides, marinas and regular fishermen at each lake) and he posts the reports just as soon as people give him the information. There is no way that Fishin.com (Jim Diucken) can get to every KY lake everyday to bring you up to date reports, so again, its good to see that you are going to help him from now on in getting the reports or getting people to send him the reports. I am sure he will appreciate it.
Second, I have never understood why people want reports about fishing. I have never once been fishing two days in a row (and I do that frequently) and have the same pattern/places/honey holes/lures or whatever work exactly the same both days. So, if they don't hold up for two days, why would anything think that they are any good three or four days later, expecially when there has been drastic changes in the weather. The only report I look at for fishing is the wather report and that is usally no more reliable then any of the fishing reports I have seen or fFishin.com or any other website.
Thats my opinion.

I fish every day and things do change with the weather and water conditions...but there are many times the same pattern/lure work for many days in a row. It is the weather reports that are the most inaccurate reports put out by far.
I fish 3-5 days a week and many times i've used the same pattern for several days in a row. The same lures seem to work day after day, color s may change but alot of times the same baits will work. I have been catching fish on the same 4 lures for the last week... Like Dave said the weather seems to be the most inaccurate thing
Sorry, but I tend to agree. The individual posts in the discusion board are more helpful than the fishing reports provided by the website. I do love the sight over though
IDEA: Why not allow the senior members to post fishing reports of their favorite lakes directly on the Fishing reports section of the website. We could all participate and would encourage more activity so you could earn the right to post a fishing report!!! We could then argue who reports the best.![]()
I appreciate everyone's input.
A good idea from andrewone1.
Anybody else have any ideas on how to make it better.
Peter
First I think everyone should realize that Fishin.Com doesnt get paid to have the resourses we have on this site. From the way I have understood it the little bit of money that does come pays for expenses of the site.
I am thankful that I dont have to pay to get on this site and have met some pretty nice guys on here and I think people should realize that fishin.com has offered a privalage to post on here, Its not a god given right to be able to do this. "Count your blessings instead of complaining"
Here are two great examples of tomorrow's weather report for the north area of Ky/Barkley: Both NWS and Weather Channel calling for overcast with possibility of severe thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon. NWS and local TV saying wind tomorrow at 10mph from the South. Weather channel is calling for wind tomorrow at 15-25 from the south. Now there is one heck of big difference on Ky/Barkley between a 10 mph wind and a 15-25 mph wind...could be 2 ft chop or 6 ft rollers...and with all the debris (logs, duck blinds, metal float tubes, etc...) in the lakes it could mean the difference between getting off the lake in one piece or being in the water with a boat broke in half...yeah...the weather forecasts are really on the money...makes it interesting for those of us that make our living and have our clients trusting us with their lives out on the water. The weather change though will improve the fishing over the past two days....but it will without me because I can't take a chance on tearing up my boat or getting someone hurt because the weather folks can't predict their birthday much less the weather.I fish 3-5 days a week and many times i've used the same pattern for several days in a row. I like the idea...more reports = more information and helps us all. I suggest those like you that think my reports are not helpful refrain from reading them.Sorry, but I tend to agree. I agree with you there Dave. Theres to much stuff in the water to take a chance on an inaccurate forecast. Too many different opinions about what the wind is gonna do.... Maybe i could become a weatherman, Cause i can get up everyday and say "well the wind is gonna blow today somwhere between 5-30MPH...Here are two great examples of tomorrow's weather report for the north area of Ky/Barkley: Both NWS and Weather Channel calling for overcast with possibility of severe thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon. Im with dave on this one...weather man is the only guy that gets paid for an educated guess thats wrong 99 % of the time
