Stayng At Buzzard Rock Any Info

I am going to be at Buzzard Rock the 4-11 to 4-14. I was just wondering how the lake conditions are in that area(water temp., color of water, and trash), and if any one had any info for that area. I am not fishing any tournaments, just a family trip. Also any suggestions for that area of the lake would be greatly appreciated. I will be bass fishing. Thanks

Welcome to the site. Check Dave Stewart weekly fishing report on this site and you can't go wrong. If he says it, count on it. Also there are numerous posts ongoing about the twin lakes all the time, just stay tuned and the boyz will keep ya straight.

North Barkley is muddy and there is a lot of debris at this time. However, the lakes are currently being pulled down at a rate of about 6 inches a day...this should clear the creeks pretty soon...I had a report yesterday that Barkley was clearing down south with the pull down. Now the bad news is we have a possibility of 1-3 inches of more rain over the next few days...if this happens expect more muddy water. There are bass on lead in banks and back shallow. With the pull down expect your best bite to be in the front buck brush or in front of it. My report on Thursday night will give your the patterns and lure choices.

Check your wind forecasts for Friday and Saturday...not that they have been all that accurate lately but right now the forecast is for 24mph + winds on Friday and 16 mph on Saturday....you really don't want to be out in the lake with all that debris in rollers. The plus is you are staying at Buzzard Rock and you can fish in Poplar Creek with big winds not affecting you that much.

Re: Stayng At Buzzard Rock Any Info

I just got back fishing 3 days on mid-Barkley and fishing was tough to say the least. We only caught 15-20 bass over 3 days fishing and I have never seen the water that high. We even witnessed a bass boat idle over the flooded road and into Energy lake on Monday. Un-real!!!

Drift was horrible but fortunately the wind was down until yesterday afternoon so it wasn't too bad to spot. It was bad enough in places that you had to sit it down and idle through. Water color was not bad in the bays and as Dave mentioned the few fish we found were in the backs of the creeks but with acres and acres of new flooded brush the bass were really scattered. I did manage a 6+ pound fish yesterday so at least we picked up one good one. The lake dropped noticebly yesterday so hopefully this next rain will fizzle and they can get the lakes back to reasonable levels pretty soon.
