    Re: ky lake ?

Steve: What I expect to see is a repositioning of some of the bass. When the lake which was already over summer pool blew up another couple of feet with the heavy rains last week it moved a number of fish back deep into the shallow jungle.....prior to that most of the bass were being taken in flooded over brush near the normal lake level lines...some remained there but some moved also...basically the rapid rise scattered the fish and the bite has been slower since then.
Now the lakes are being pulled down at about 6-8 inches a day....if this continues I expect the bass that moved up into the jungle to pull back out to the front of the brush. This of course may not happen if we get a lot of heavy rains with this cold front coming thru over the next 24 hours and the lakes go back up on another rapid rise. One thing we have not had so far with all this weather is an arctic blast severe enough to drop the water temps...if this happens (and I never discount that happening in April) the bass will pull back out fast. I really don't expect to see the bass moving way back out toward the mouths of the bays with just a water drop though....those that are located shallow are pretty much gonna stay there until after the spawn and they start transitioning to summer patterns. There are however, still bass out in deeper water that have not gone shallow on points and creek channel banks...remember..we are not yet in late prespawn or spawn mode here yet...we are still in prespawn.

I agree with Dave. I dont think the fish will go very far,but if it turns off cold and drops the water temp you may have to really slow down to catch fish.

Man.... I,ve got to get linked up on the water. You can read my "back from KY Lake" post I had, dave "of course" is right on. The fish are shallow and in the jungle, we were able to find fish in the develop areas where landowners have cleaned the banks. If it umdeveloped you can't reach'em. We coulg not but a fish on the outside edges going to the backs of the pockets, every keeper fish was as far back as you could get

Looks like the BFL tournament had lower weights, was this due to the drawdown? looks like the lake is only 3.5 foot obove summer pool now.

the fish have scattered pretty good and being caught on every bait you can think of..I had fish on a jig..spinnerbait..crankbait..jerkbait...brush hog..pretty much anything you put in there face...but it doesnt last..have to keep changing up... tuff to get a pattern nailed down right now...should change soon with some stable weather
