    Ease my mind.

    Say this happened to you.
You are fishing a national tournament and you notice that one of your compeditors was having boat problems. So you went over and took the next 30 minutes to help out. They made it back to weigh in on time as you did. All you lost was 30 minutes of fishing. Now this is the second day of a four day tournament, and lets say the person you help went on to win the tournament. He wins $50,000.00. Now you do not expect any money, but would you expect a thank you, maybe a mention on stage the final day? How about in the numerous interveiws that follow. If you had won would you ever tell this story of how someone, a stranger helped you out and made sure you didn't loose that days weight. Or are you the type that beleives you don't owe any thanks to anyone?
Just wondering, since this happened to me.
I do not reget helping this person and I do not think it effected my standing in the tournament. Just thought I would post this in case it every happens to you, remember those who lend a hand.

Only in a life and death situation lol --9 times out of ten they won't stop for you--Now if it's a good buddy you better stop--What you should do is tell them you will send help when you get back at check in--GL to us all

Thumbs up Re: Ease my mind.

You should have been thanked no matter what outcome... Period. This day an age even little kids have cell phones, their arse can call somebody. You lending a hand will not go unoticed. The world is full of pricks unfortunatly...

What did you do for this individual? Are you saying he did not thank you when you helped him or did not say thank you in front of the crowd at the weigh-in?

    Re: Ease my mind.

His batteries went dead. He tried to jump from the troll motor batteries and they did not have enough juice to turn over his big motor. Like I said, it took about 1/2 hour to hook up and run on a high idle to get enough of a charge to start the big motor. I have no regrets about taking the time, I do know some who would send help back, but not me. Yes he said thanks at the time, but never mentioned the problem to anyone.

Now that I read this post I would say a thanks was all I would have expected from him and that's what he did.
Now, he did miss an opportunity to be a good guy and tell a good story to the crowd and his fellow anglers.

I think your mind should be at ease then. If he thanked you at the time, that should be good enough.

Think of it this way, if you'd helped him, he thanked you and DIDN'T win the tournament, then the outcome would have been the same and you wouldn't have thought twice about it.

    Re: Ease my mind.

Thank You, for all your kind words. My mind is at ease. Rest asured that if I'm ever in that position (winning a large tournament) if any help has been given, I will thank those that made the win possible.
The winner of this tournament and I fished the whole week within site of each other. I left his area alone until he would leave for weigh in. He is a very good angler and a nice man. I marked it up as to him being so excided about the win.
