    I need some REEL advice.

I purchased a new baitcasting combo in september and the first time out, every time I jerked set the hook or got hung up it would free spool on me. It has no anti reverse button so I called the company. The man said send it back its the anti reverse bearing. Sent it back in january and got it back in timely manner. I used about a month ago for the 1st time and the same ole stuff, free spooled with a birds nest built for a crow. Come home call the man again he said send it back and I will mail you a new in matter of fact it is a different model about a fifty dollar more model. I havent spooled yet (just got it today). I got looking most of my reels call for 12lb test line with120-140 yard capacity. I've used 14lb excel mono clear and blue forever on all my reels. Could that have been what caused the problem with that reel or did I just get a bad one?

I don't see how that could have caused it. What kind of reel?

I have never had a problem with using different test lines on baitcasters. Sounds like bad reels.

Line size doesn't affect the reel. That is just what the Manufacturer recommends and it fills the spool correctly and the correct amount of recommended yards of line.
I use 8,10,17,20, and there is no difference other than the speed of the retreive due to the size of the spool increasing as you reel in different size lines.
Hopefuly you just got a bad batch and the NEW one will do better for you.
