    Re: Ky or Barkley Lake?

I am a little partial to Ky lake, however they both are good. I really like the east side (LBL side) of Ky lake around may. I don't know if you are camping or plan on staying somewhere else. Hillman Ferry campground is nice on Pisgah bay, and Sugar bay has some primitive camping and a ramp. I also like using the ramps at Ky Dam and the Moors. Jonathan creek has some good ramps too.

For barkley, I really like the Kuttawa ramp, Eddy Creek, or the State park at Barkley - this is one of my favorites. Barkley is more shallow than Ky lake, and usually has a little more stain. You really need to pay attention to the channel markers on Barkley when on the main lake.

If you put in at the Ky Dam marina or Double creek ramp (at the barkley dam) you are close to the canal, so you could fish a little on both lakes.

Both Lakes have great fishing - I guess it would depend on where you would be staying - or what kind of lodging is available.

    Col,

Thanks for the info; in years past (long ago) we always stayed at a small resort in TN on Barkley. I just want to try the northern part of the lakes this time and we dont really have a preference on either lake just looking for some time away work, etc and catch some gills for the freezer and some bass for fun.
