    Corinth Lake today..

First time on this massive amount of water today. Put in before daybreak and started fishing the boat docks early with topwater, skipping weightless flukes under them and texas rigged lizards flipped around them. Started catching what I was expecting, 6 inchers to 12 inchers. Water was 59 degrees when I put in and raised up to 63-64 when I took out a bit after 2pm. Caught several Bass, with 5 keepers (if 12inch is a keeper), then 5 keepers but none of them was over 14". Tried C rig, cranks, spinnerbaits and others but except for one small fish on a jerkbait, the pattern today was all around the docks. Even pulled a frog thru the moss in hopes of BIG MOMMA but nothing. Talked to the only other boater on the water and as we were, his wife lands a monster Crappie on a rooster tail. This fish was a good 2lbs to which the guy says his buddy caught a 3 1/2 pounder last year and another one that went just shy of 3 a week or so ago. I am not a Crappie fisherman but I did go to Backwaters yesterday and purchase some Crappie stuff to take to Ky and Barkley in a couple of weeks to make it more enjoyable for my wife and 4 year old son. I continued on Bass fishing but when the other 2 left shortly thereafter, back into the cove I went and marked several good brush piles on my finders and threw out 4 different marker bouys to such. Backed off and started casting Mister Crappie Roadrunners and 1/16oz white jig heads with small 1 1/2" Bass Assassin Minnow imitations and landed several good Crappie. Brought 12 back to the house that all went a good 10+ inches long, good and fat and weighed anywhere from 1 1/4 pounds to 1 3/4 pounds. Caught 20 or so total but the others were too small to get a good fillet so back they went. Stopped at Frisch's on the way back and got a good jar of Tarter Sauce to go along with home cut french fries and cole slaw will make a good meal tonight, plus another meal's worth is on ice in the freezer. Don't know what the water color looks like normally but it was a bit stained with about a foot of visibility. The other guy said it was a couple of feet below where it normally is, so I will take his word on it. The pockets to the left of the ramp had water temps a degree or so colder than the water right around the ramp and the water warmed as you moved towards the interstate to your right. ALL of my fish came in the water to the left of the ramp if you were standing on the ramp looking into the water. Fished an hour or so on the other side of the ramp but to no avail so back to the productive water I went. The same guy said the Bass really don't start hitting very good until the end of April and first week of May for what it is worth. I probably should have went to Kincaid but that will be the next trip. At least now everytime I travel up I-75 and see Corinth Lake, I now know what it is like on the water and can stop wondering. Hope this helps

Good job Elwood. I just got back from the big pond. I also spent the morning Crappie fishing. Since the lake settled down some the Crappie have really started biting. I fished for about 6hrs and ended up bringing home a limit. Had some really good keepers today several weighing 11/2 and had one monster that went 2-3.
See ya in a few weeks

Good job on the crappie. did you throw a 1/4 oz Black chatterbuzz? I have caught a few fish over 2 lbs. on them in this lake.

I did not throw a Chatterbuzz at all and only own a couple of Chatterbaits but have NEVER thrown them ever. I keep forgetting about them. No bites on Cranks, Spinnerbaits, Jigs, C Rig, Buzzbait, Pop R, Frog and Rat on top of the moss or anything else that I threw except for flipping a T Rig Hook Some Bass Baby Brush Hound, Watermelon Red with 1/4 oz Tungsten sinker or weightless White Super Fluke on a 3/0 hook skipped back under the docks for Bass. Fish was EXCELLENT. Fried up half the batch and put the other half in the freezer. My 4 year old ate 3 large pieces by himself and we had a couple of pieces left over that I took to the lady next door. She is about 70 and lives by herself and smiled a mile long when I knocked on her door and offered her the fish. She said it had been several years since she had fresh fish and I told her that it was less than 7 hours ago when they were still swimming. Josh, Krista and I then went downstairs and they helped me work in my boat and tackle. Josh bit the head off of a Hook Some Bass Baby Brush hound not once, twice but 3 times just because I told him that I do it some times to get more life out of a lizard. Not bad for a 4 year old to taste these NASTY creatures and smiled the whole time while Mom sat there shaking her head. Mom did see my full arsenal of tackle, both boxes - all 14 planos, and then said "Not a word about the amount of Scrapbooking and Stamping stuff that I have". We went thru the entire box for over an hour talking about the different baits and what they do and he loved it. Can't wait to get him to Ky and Barkley in a week and a half to give him a shot at a MONSTER. Plan on putting on a jointed Jitterbug for him and hope for a BUST on topwater. He would be hooked for life, (if he is not already).
