We fished Lake Barkley near Eddy Creek Marina last week. We had beautiful weather and caught about 25 crappie. The water was clear and we also caught a TON of really good blue gill.

I have a few pictures on my website. We stayed at Eddybay Lodging. Great place to stay and they have a covered boat dock. Crappie were caught on minnows and bluegill on wax worms. I also caught a few cat fish on wax worms.![]()
Congrats on your trip. Glad the lakes straightened up for you before you came down.
Where the bluegill concentrated? Like they were on the beds?
A lot of bluegills were heavily concentrated in 5 ft of water near the rocks. Suggest fishing bridges and mostly rocky areas. Females were full of eggs. Smaller bluegills were closer to the rocks and larger about 10 ft from the rocky shoreline. Don't overlook brush piles or fallen trees along shorelines for crappie. Some crappie were still being caught in 23ft of water vertical fishing with jigs tip with a minnow.
That was from my husband.
Thanks
